How it works

From a photo of your citationto a resolved matter.

This is the whole path, in the order it actually happens. There are nine stages. You are involved in four of them, and you decide before any money or any attorney is committed.

The path

Nine stages, in order

We have not put durations on these stages. How long a matter takes depends on the court's calendar and the matter itself, and inventing a number here would be inventing a promise.

  1. 01

    You send us the citation

Photograph the citation with your phone or upload a file. This is where every matter begins.

    What happens here

You do not need an account to start. The assessment begins from the document itself, and identity is only required later, at the point where the product genuinely needs it.

If there is writing on the back of the citation, send that too. Officer notes and court instructions are frequently on the reverse and they change how the matter reads.

YouTake a clear photo of the citation, front and back.

    Front of citation

Back too, if it has writing

  2. 02

    We read the citation

The document is processed to pull out the court, the violations, the deadline and the identifying details.

    What happens here

Reading a citation is genuinely hard. Formats differ by state, by county and sometimes by the individual officer. Handwriting, carbon copies and poor lighting all reduce what can be read reliably.

So we do not present what we read as fact. Every extracted field is marked with how confident the reading is, and anything ambiguous is escalated to you rather than quietly guessed.

  3. 03

    You confirm the details

You check what we read before anything moves forward. Nothing proceeds on an unconfirmed reading.

    What happens here

The court, the violation codes and the response deadline are the details that determine everything downstream, so you confirm them explicitly. A field we could not read is presented as not found and you enter it yourself.

Where a reading conflicts with itself — two possible courts, an unreadable date — the matter is held until you resolve it. We would rather stop and ask than proceed on a wrong court.

    ConfirmedEdit

Critical fields need an explicit confirmation, not just a green tick.

  4. 04

    The matter is assessed

We work out what you are actually facing, and whether this is a matter FineFight can take on.

    What happens here

The assessment considers the jurisdiction, the violations charged, the severity, whether an accident was involved, and the licence at stake. A commercial licence changes the exposure substantially.

Not every citation is supportable. If the jurisdiction or the matter falls outside what the network covers, you are told that plainly and given a next step — it is a real outcome, not an error message.

    • Jurisdiction and court identified
    • Violations mapped to the state code
    • Severity and licence exposure reviewed
    • Accident involvement accounted for
    • Supportability determined

    You receive a quote

A quote for representation, priced to your specific citation, with what it includes stated in writing.

    What happens here

Pricing is per matter, because a contested commercial citation and a straightforward equipment violation are not the same piece of work. The quote states its amount and currency explicitly, and states what representation covers.

You see the quote before you commit to anything. Nothing is charged while you are deciding.

  6. 06

    You decide whether to hire

If you accept the quote, you complete payment and your matter moves to attorney assignment.

    What happens here

At checkout you review the terms that apply, including the language governing when an attorney–client relationship forms. That acknowledgement is recorded against the version of the terms in force at the time.

Declining is a normal outcome. If you decide not to proceed, the matter stays in your account and nothing further happens.

YouReview the terms, then accept or decline the quote.

    An attorney accepts the matter

Your matter is offered to attorneys licensed in the issuing jurisdiction, and one of them takes it.

    What happens here

Attorneys in the network are independent practitioners. They review the specifics of your matter and choose whether to accept it. Nothing is auto-assigned to whoever is available.

Once an attorney accepts, you see who they are. From that point the case work happens under their professional responsibility, and FineFight's role is to keep the matter accurately tracked.

    You follow the case

Court dates, document requests, filings and appearances appear on your case as they happen.

    What happens here

If your attorney needs something from you, it arrives as a specific request with a deadline attached — not as a vague email asking you to get in touch.

Court dates are shown in the court's own time zone, with your local equivalent labelled separately, because a hearing time misread by three hours is a missed hearing.

  9. 09

    The matter resolves

When the case concludes, the outcome is recorded on your case in specific terms.

    What happens here

The recorded outcome describes what actually happened to the charges. It is not reduced to a success or failure marker, because traffic matters resolve in ways that a checkmark cannot express.

The case record, the documents and the history remain available to you afterwards.

    Recorded outcome

The outcome is written out in the terms the court used — which charges resolved, and how.

Not a checkmark. Traffic matters do not resolve in a way a checkmark can describe.

What we are not saying

The claims we have deliberately left out

A page describing a legal process is an easy place to overpromise. Here is what is missing from this one, on purpose.

No outcome promise

We do not say your citation will be dismissed or reduced. Nobody can honestly say that before a court has heard the matter.

No success rate

We publish no win percentage. A figure like that, without the case mix behind it, tells you nothing about your own citation.

No stage durations

We do not tell you a stage takes a certain number of days. Court calendars are not ours to promise.

No guaranteed attorney availability

Attorneys accept matters case by case. We do not promise that one will be available for every citation in every jurisdiction.

FineFight is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. Representation is provided by independent licensed attorneys who accept matters individually.

Start at stage one

Send us the citation and see what the assessment says. You decide at stage five, before anything is committed.
